A Phys Ed blog that is not about Phys Ed
Today when people are asked to follow thought-through plans, their choices are immediately questioned. When they follow their instinct, they are told that they "Should have, could have, would have..."
While one sets straight north, suddenly compass points shift and what was the foundational ground of a life-changing decision becomes passé or obsolete.

In Scandinavia where I live, societies are mostly organic so everyone fits in and doesn't need to fundamentally change themselves to enjoy life they way they are, feel and think. However, communication has a variable geometry up in the north. Following unwritten rules is a requirement. Eye-contact probably much less. As a foreigner coming from a place where being passionate and loud is the norm, I am constantly (trying to) adjusting to my context.
Yet, our world needs, and has systems in place to function. This is where I think that a link is missing. How does one apply their life skills to life, since life itself will only expect them to? How does one learn to navigate changing waters?
In our classrooms we, as educators, see students as unique individuals and we tailor, plan, adjust learning moments so that they can all benefit from what they need and grow at their own pace. But when they go out there, the world keeps rolling.
What drives me when I teach is what my students will do of the skills and knowledge they learn in my subject through different lenses either at recess after PE, or tomorrow or maybe later in their life, I don't need to know about it. What matters for me is that I tried to help them learn to reset their compass when the north points the other way.
Through movement, my focus is to enhance the student's ability to develop their multiple intelligences, literate, mathematical, scientific, social or emotional and of course physical.
PE offers a fun environment to play but it's also a privileged venue and a safe place for students to learn to think, communicate, reflect and be aware of themselves and their surroundings.
This blog is dedicated to transdisciplinary learning, where learning about subjects goes beyond subjects themselves and goes back and forth like a boomerang that never lands.
This blog is my attempt to share my passion as an educator is Physical Education who sees PE not for what it is but for what it serves.
This blog is about TransdisciPE.
I hope you enjoy it :)
